# How to Turn On Live Captions for Osler Videos

Live captions can automatically transcribe spoken audio while an Osler video is playing. The steps depend on your browser and operating system.

## Google Chrome on Windows or Mac

1. Open **Google Chrome**.
2. Select the **three-dot menu** in the upper-right corner.
3. Select **Settings**.
4. Select **Accessibility**.
5. Turn on **Live Caption**.
6. Return to the Osler video and select **Play**.

A caption box should appear when speech is detected. You can move the caption box to another location in the browser window.

The first time Live Caption is enabled, Chrome may need a moment to download the required language files.

## Microsoft Edge or Mozilla Firefox on Windows 11

Windows 11 provides system-wide Live Captions that can caption audio played through Edge, Firefox, and other applications.

1. Begin playing the Osler video.
2. Press the **Windows logo key + Ctrl + L**.
3. The first time you use Live Captions, follow the prompts to download the required language files.
4. A caption window will appear and begin transcribing the video.
5. Use the settings in the caption window to change its position or appearance.

You can also turn on Live Captions by going to:

**Windows Settings → Accessibility → Captions**

Windows Live Captions is available in Windows 11, version 22H2 and later.

## Safari on a Mac

On supported Mac computers, macOS Live Captions can transcribe audio playing in Safari and other applications.

2. Select **System Settings**.
3. Select **Accessibility**.
4. Select **Live Captions**. You may need to scroll down.
5. Turn on **Live Captions**.
6. Return to Safari and play the Osler video.

The Live Captions window should appear when spoken audio is detected. The first time the feature is enabled, the Mac may need to download language data.

Live Captions is available on Mac computers with Apple silicon. Availability may vary by language, country, or region.

## Please Note

These live-caption features are provided by Google Chrome, Windows, or macOS—not by the Osler video player.

Automatically generated captions may not always be completely accurate. Accuracy can vary depending on the audio quality, language, speaker, and device being used.

Browser and operating-system updates may change the appearance or location of these settings.
